Some Weird Obsessions

Here's a crash course in me: 5 random things I am currently obsessed with. Ready? Go!

1. Yellow cherry tomatoes. Particularly the ones grown in my grandpa's garden. It's the perfect late summer/early fall snack. Nothing tastes better than picking sun-warmed tomatoes right off the vine and popping them into your mouth. I could seriously eat those babies everyday.
They taste even better when they're Siamese twins!

2. Bigfoot. Skunk Ape. Forest Man. Yeti. Sasquatch. What ever you want to call him, he's out there! I'm certain of it! Mostly I just love watching the Animal Planet show, Finding Bigfoot, with my dad. It's a constant topic of discussion in my family, especially when we venture out into nature. "Dad, did you hear that? It was definitely Bigfoot." or "Oh yeah, these woods sure look squatchy." These phrases, among others, are perfectly normal to hear on a car ride with my family. And no one thinks twice about how it might sound to an outside party.  Fun fact: Bigfoot apparently does not live in the woods, he lives at a local thrift store and I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple weeks ago!
Okay so maybe it's not the real Bigfoot, just a life-sized replica but you get the point.

3. Socks. I love them. They are my number one most favorite thing to wear. If you're ever in the give-Jamie-gifts-mode I will never say no to a new pair of socks. I like long ones and short ones, striped, polka-dots, printed, fuzzy, you name it. Currently my sock collection has reached 96! And it's growing all the time!

4. Glitter. Oh my goodness I love it. I work at a craft store so I am quite accustomed to coming home covered in sparkles. Glitter is the herpes of the craft world.  I love everything that sparkles and shines. One can not be in a bad mood when glitter is nearby. Just take a handful of glitter, throw it on someone and BOOM! Instant party!

5. Last but not least I am OBSESSED with my niece! She's one year old and the cutest darn thing you'll ever see. My niece is by far my favorite person. I may not be hers but I still can't help but love her!
Seriously though, she's stinking adorable.

How can you not obsess over a cutie pie such as this?

The Namesake

So I'm sure you're wondering why on earth I would think that G stands for Jamie, when it is very obvious that I spell my name with a J. Well there is a little story behind that!
First thing you should know about me: I'm a bit of a ditz.
Second thing you should know: Sometimes my mouth says things before getting it approved by my brain.
I work at a craft store and it's wonderful. I love crafts and glitter and paints and ribbon and paper. I just love it. So one day at work I found this itty bitty canvas. It's probably 2 in x 2 in and it's adorable. I got so excited and showed it to my co-worker because a treasure such as that needs to be shared. She loved it just as much as I did! And who doesn't love tiny canvas's?! There was one problem though: What in heaven's name was I going to do with this canvas? There's a whole plethora of possibilities and I just couldn't decide on one, so I sought the council of my co-worker.
"You should paint a tiny little G on it!" She said excitedly. That would be a cute monogram for my last name: Gleed.

I got so excited over this idea that I completely forgot how the alphabet works. "A G for Jamie!" I shout, totally confident in the accuracy of this sentence. My co-worker simply stairs at me with an expectant look on her face. I'm slightly confused by her response... until... "OH! I meant Gleed! G for Gleed, J for Jamie! My bad!" We laughed until we were red in the face. G for Jamie is now a constant running joke for us and I feel it does a good job summing me up and all of the random things that tend to come out of my mouth.
